Visitation log template: Parenting Time Log for Excel and Google Sheets
Scheduled against actual at every exchange, minutes late worked out for you, and missed, denied and late visits counted by month. A spreadsheet, £4.99.
A visitation log is a dated record of every scheduled exchange: who the child was meant to be with, who they were actually with, the scheduled and actual times, and what happened, in facts only. Our Parenting Time Log is that record as a spreadsheet for Excel or Google Sheets, and it works out minutes late and the monthly totals for you.
£4.99 on Etsy Bundle with 3 other logs, £9.49
What the log looks like
This is the Parenting Time tab with four sample rows, exactly as it ships. One row per scheduled exchange or visit:
What to record at each exchange
- Date and child. Names come from a Start Here tab, typed once.
- Scheduled with / actually with. Who the plan or order says, and who it really was.
- Scheduled time / actual time. The sheet works out minutes late from these two.
- Status from a dropdown: as scheduled, late, missed, denied, cancelled, or swapped by agreement. Recording agreed swaps matters as much as problems: a log that only lists the bad days reads as one-sided.
- Overnight, yes or no.
- Notes, facts only. "Returned 40 minutes late. No message sent." Not opinions or feelings.
- Evidence reference. A short label pointing to the text, email or photo, which you keep separately.
Fill it in the same day. A record written at the time is more useful to you, and easier to stand behind, than one rebuilt weeks later.
The monthly summary
A second tab counts everything by month and for the year, with nothing to type: exchanges logged, missed or denied, late, and overnights with you. Here it is with the same four sample rows:
When a log like this gets used
Usually when parents are talking to a mediator or a lawyer about whether an arrangement is working, or when one parent says the other isn't following a court order. In England and Wales, for example, if your ex-partner is not following a child arrangements order you can ask the court to enforce it using form C79. Whether and how a log like this is used is a question for your solicitor or attorney, not for us.
Opening it
- One .xlsx file. Opens in Microsoft Excel, and in Google Sheets free via File > Import > Upload.
- Dropdowns on every category column; totals update automatically.
- Digital download from Etsy; nothing is posted.
